Hamad Trauma and Emergency

Qatar's main trauma centre sits inside the Trauma and Emergency Center on the Hamad General Hospital campus, reached through Gate 5 off Al Rayyan Road. Opened by the Amir in September 2019, the four-storey building is about four times the size of the emergency department it replaced and is operated by Hamad Medical Corporation.

Each floor has a defined role: walk-in emergency and 'See and Treat' services on the ground floor, the Hamad Trauma Center with resuscitation rooms that can convert into mini operating theatres on the first, urgent care on the second, and isolation and observation areas on the third. Imaging includes MRI, ultrasound and three CT scanners, and the building houses Qatar's first hyperbaric oxygen chamber, able to take up to 18 people. A dedicated ambulance ramp, helipad access and a bridge to the surgical wards of Hamad General Hospital support the roughly 2,000 major trauma cases handled each year.
